Walk and Play with the Pets!
We are in desperate need of more volunteers to walk and play with
the dogs and cats and give them hands-on care. Contact the
Shelter
office.
Pet Therapy volunteers are
also needed to keep up with this
ever-expanding and rewarding program. New volunteers may go by
the HSK office to fill out the volunteer
application. It is not necessary that you have your own dog for Pet
Therapy -- we often use shelter dogs. If you have any questions,
call Judy Phillips at 830-367-3335 or e-mail jjp@omniglobal.net.
Canine Literacy - A “win-win”
project for all!!!!
Are you interested in a unique and unequaled approach to
reading with children at the Elementary school level? Do
you have a dog who is gentle with youngsters and
friendly with other dogs? If so, please join in the fun
and participate in the Humane Society’s Canine Literacy
project. Our 4-legged volunteers and their
respective owners help struggling readers develop
confidence and self esteem. Having been selected for
this unique program, the children relax with their furry
mentors and reading becomes fun. There will be an
orientation in the fall to further explain the details
of the program and the time frame. Join us by filling
out a volunteer application at the Humane Society, 2900
Junction Hwy., or call Judy Phillips (830) 367-3335 or
via e-mail
jjp@omniglobal.net.
Come work in our
Resale Shop for an hour, a morning,
an afternoon, or more
if you have the time.
Help to maintain our lovely
yard --- trimming, weeding, mowing.
Or just spend time with
our animals -- the more human attention they get the better
socialized they are -- and socialized animals are more
adoptable.
Any amount of help you can give is much
appreciated!! Remember, only an hour a month
is a huge help to benefit the animals!
Send us
your contact information and let us know how you would like to
volunteer. |
