Our Mission
The Humane Society is dedicated to placing as many
animals as
possible in quality homes. |

The Humane Society of Kerrville was founded by nine ladies in 1985 who each
put in $100 to help stray and injured animals. In 1989, they rented an old vet clinic (our prior shelter across from Wal-Mart on Junction
Hwy) to house animals and provide grooming and boarding. One
of the charter members later purchased the building and allowed the
Humane Society to use it until her death, when it was left to the
Humane Society. |

In 1997, the Humane Society opened a resale shop to provide
additional income for the Society. In 2002, through the generosity of
the Kathleen C. Cailloux Family Trust and the Cailloux Family, the
Society moved into new quarters at 2900 Junction Hwy in Kerrville.
On the premises we continue to operate a
Resale Shop which is now housed in
the prior Raleigh House Restaurant. The Resale Shop is run by
volunteers. We have built a two-building shelter behind the
Resale Shop. One of the shelter
buildings houses our adoptable dogs, the other the office, grooming
facility (50% of fees go to support the Shelter), and our
adoptable cats. |
 |
Our Shelter is a
no-kill facility, so many times
we are full and cannot accept new animals. We hope this website
will help you in finding your next faithful companion or in finding a
new home for your animal.

Society comes from
membership dues, memorials,
contributions, bequests, grants, and fund raisers. |
